Haruo Sugi graduated from post-graduate school in the University of Tokyo with the degree of PhD in 1962, and appointed to be instructor in Physiology in the University of Tokyo Medical School. From 1965 to 1967, He worked at Columbia University as a research associate, and at National Institutes of Health as visiting scientist. From 1973 to 2004, He was Professor and Chairman in the Department of Physiology, Teikyo University Medical School. From 1996 to 2006, he was also Chairman of Muscle Committee in the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS). Sugi is now Emeritus Professor in Teikyo University.
John Yu is Distinguished Chair Professor/Director, Institute of Stem Cell/Translational Cancer Research, CGMH. He is also Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow at Institute of Cellular & Organismic Biology, Academia Sinica, and was the Director for the same Institute (2002-2009). He is the founding President for Taiwan Society for Stem Cell Research. Dr. Yu was elected to serve in many ISSCR Committees USA, the Steering Committee of Asia-Pacific Stem Cell Network, and advisor for Stem Cell Biology, Kumamoto Univ. He was Director of Exp. Hematology (1998-2002) at Scripps Research Institute, USA. He received an Established Investigatorship Award from American Heart Assoc. and many other awards

Yung-Feng Liao has completed his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia, USA) and postdoctoral studies from Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston, Massachusetts, USA). He is the principal investigator of the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology in the Institute of Cellular and Organismic Biology, Academia Sinica, a premier research institution in Taiwan. He has published more than 50 papers in reputed journals and has been serving either as an editorial board member or as a peer reviewer of prestigious journals.
